NYSERDA Guidebook for NGV Refuse Fleet in NY

A team of industry experts, led by ANTARES, prepared a guidebook to help municipalities and private companies in New York State understand how compressed natural gas (CNG) vehicles can be used in their refuse services to save money.  The use of CNG to displace gasoline or diesel fuel assists New York State in achieving its broad energy security and environmental air quality goals. The guidebook describes an overall approach and process for converting a fleet to CNG. While every fleet and operation is different and has its own unique features, the presented material provides information to help New York State organization determine if CNG vehicles are a viable option for refuse services and locate the basic knowledge to start evaluating and implementing a CNG vehicle program.
