Economic Development through Biomass Systems Integration, Niagara Mohawk Power Corporation

ANTARES has assisted the Empire State Biopower Consortium (Niagara Mohawk Power Corporation, New York State Electric & Gas Corporation, State University of New York's College of Environmental Science and Forestry) with their work on hybrid willow production and conversion technology for the integration of biomass systems. ANTARES assisted in creating a business concept and plan, ran economic impact analyses, and delineated the conversion technology and pertinent market issues. To accomplish these tasks, a thorough understanding of the willow production-to-power plant process was required. Willow production costs, transport, land rents, and power plant costs were examined extensively to determine a viable business plan.
